Slagharen, 4 September 2024
Slagharen - After the success of Scary Prairie and Western Nightmares last year, the Halloween events will return to Slagharen Amusement & Holiday Park this fall. Halloween was celebrated for the first time last year. This year the park will further expand the event: "We received so many enthusiastic responses last year. We are therefore further expanding our program this Halloween," says a spokesperson for Slagharen. For example, Crows Nest is covered this year and a Monster Walk is being organized for the first time.
There is a different program on the day than in the evening. Scary Prairie is specifically aimed at families with children, while Western Nightmares takes place in the evening, suitable for older children and adults. “The actors are ready to give you the nightmare of your life,” says Slagharen. Slagharen won two Scare Awards for Halloween last year. The park received, among other things, the audience award for Western Nightmares.
The restaurants and shops have a special range focused on Halloween, including a Halloween buffet especially for families during Western Nightmares in Big Jake.
Scary Prairie
During the day, the park consists of three themed areas: Pumpkin Market, Main Street and this year's expanded Lost Trail. “Meet the special residents here, all with their own stories and assignments,” according to the amusement park. Randy and Rosie – the park's mascots – present their Halloween show in the Music Hall. In Outcast Camp it is possible to meet Western Travelers, while in Crows Nest you can wander in the straw maze. Crows Nest is completely different this year than last year, the maze will be completely covered. The Bones family, part of Scary Prairie last year, returns to The Manor this year.
Western Nightmares
More than seventy actors participate in Western Nightmares. According to the amusement park, they will do everything they can to scare visitors. New this year is the Monster Walk at 6:00 PM. During this walking tour, all actors walk a special route through the park. The amusement park indicates that Western Nightmares is only suitable for real daredevils aged 14 and over. “Prepare yourself for a terrifying journey. Come face to face with the dark side of the Wild West," the spokesperson said. There are a total of three walkthroughs and three scare zones, so you can take a terrifying journey in The Manor, while dark crows hold sway in Crows Nest. In Outcast Camp you can visit the camp of the outcasts. Last year, visitors were surprised with a wedding in the church of Slagharen. Slagharen reveals that visitors can be surprised again this year at a special location.
New character
Slagharen has developed a new character for Scary Prairie this year. This character will become the face of the family-friendly Halloween festival. This character will soon be presented with a series of videos that will appear on social media.
