The government has announced that the relaxed measures from step 2 of the roadmap will become permanent. That is fantastic news for the attraction park Slagharen.
Saturday, 22 May, will be a modest but festive opening, just like when it all started the Whitsun weekend of 1963. To honour the park's history, the Pioneer Express 63 will also open on Saturday, as a tribute to the park's founders.
Slagharen, 18-5-2021 - General Manager - Dave Storm - speaks out: 'Just like in 2020, the pre-planned opening date for 2021 did not seem to be a given. But fortunately, the tide has turned, and the time has come to once again enjoy each other's company in the attraction park. The holiday park was already open during the past holiday weeks. The outdoor locations of the attraction park will open during the Whitsun weekend. We are ready, and our staff is eager to get back to work. We believe that the current corona measures help us to offer a safe day out, as we did for most of 2020. Of course, we will use the opening as an opportunity to celebrate the spring and the re-opening of the park, a highlight in itself, with our guests and staff.'
On 20 February 2021 the founder of Shetland Pony Park Slagharen, Henk Bemboom, would have celebrated his 100th birthday. To honour him, the Attraction & Holiday Park Slagharen renamed the completely renovated monorail to 'The Pioneer Express'. Of course, the monorail was completely restyled to fit the Wild West theme. The restyled attraction travels through a tunnel parallel to Main Street, in which large-format photos from the early years of Slagharen are displayed. The bar, through which the monorail also rides, is decorated like the original office of Bemboom Senior. A fine piece of nostalgia and tribute to the park's history.
The 'Safe Outings' protocol, which was drawn up last year together with the industry associations Club van Elf and the Dutch Zoo Federation, will also be in force in 2021. The park has worked towards a new normal, where having fun remains paramount, but the additional measures have been integrated into the business operations. The advance online reservation of an entrance ticket will remain an option in 2021, to manage visitor capacity.
To stimulate guests to book a day out or holiday in The Netherlands, Slagharen offers flexible rebooking. This means that guests can start their preparations carefree In the unlikely event of a coronavirus outbreak, the booking or reservation of the ticket can be changed.
